Funny Resume Mistakes

From Jobmob's "150 Funniest Resume Mistakes, Bloopers and Blunders Ever"

My favorites:
  • Candidate explained an arrest by stating, “We stole a pig, but it was a really small pig.”
  • “Finished eighth in my class of ten.”
  • References: “Bill, Tom, Eric. But I don’t know their phone numbers.”
  • Experience: “Any interruption in employment is due to being unemployed.”
  • Background: “28 dog years of experience in sales (four human).” (Resumania)

I've seen a few funny resume mistakes personally. Well, they were funny the first few times:

1. Candidate uses a resume template and leaves the template instructions in their submitted resume: e.g., "Enter your work history here", "Run spell check before you send this."

2. Candidates using the carpet-bombing approach with their resume - sending their resume to dozens (even hundreds) of employers at once and forgetting to personalize the cover letter. e.g, Resume cover letter to HR manager at Company ABC: "I am applying for a sales job at Company XYZ." These ones hit the trash very quickly.
